Movement Learning Camp


The Movement Learning Camp is a one to two days lecture on the diagnosis and management of common movement disorders. Highlighted in the lecture series is the phenomenology of X-linked Dystonia Parkinsonism of Panay (DYT-3), aimed at early recognition of this movement disorder uniquely endemic to the Philippines.

First Movement Learning Camp

2013, Tagaytay City, Cavite


The first Movement Learning Camp was held in Taal Vista Hotel, Tagaytay City. Through the MDS Ambassador program, Prof. Shen Yang Lim from the University of Malaya, Malaysia delivered lectures on common movement disorders. He was joined by local movement disorders specialists..

Second Movement Learning Camp

2014, Roxas City, Capiz


The second camp was held in Roxas City, Capiz, the island of Panay. The region holds the highest number of X-linked Dystonia Parkinsonism of Panay (XDP) in the country. The camp featured updates and new insights in XDP. The lecture series included local experts led by Dr. Lilian Lee and the Collaborative Center for XDP (CCXDP) group led by Prof. Anne Young and Atty. Geraldine Acuna-Sunshine. A botulinum toxin workshop was conducted by Prof. Raymond L. Rosales and Prof. Nutan Sharma.

Sixth Movement Learning Camp

2018, Ozamiz, Misamis Occidental

The movement learning camp has since been to: Clark Freeport in Pampanga, Intramuros in Manila, Baguio City in the Benguet province,, Lipa City in Batangas, and Legazpi City in the province of Albay.
